The Administration of Deceased's Estate (Assets other than CPF / Baby Bonus / Edusave / PSEA Monies) is one of the eServices offered under IPTO's Public Trustee eServices. It allows public users to apply to the Public Trustee to administer estates of deceased persons where the value of the estate does not exceed $50,000.00. Public can apply to the Public Trustee to administer a deceased's estate instead of applying to the Courts to appoint some other persons (known as administrators) to administer the estate, if the deceased died without leaving a Will (i.e. intestate).

 1. Guidelines for Completion
 
 
a. This page provides some of the important guidelines to take note before you proceed with the application.
 
b. You will be able to Create a new application, Edit, Delete or View applications that are pending submission.
 
c. To create a new application for the Administration of a Deceased's Estate, the applicant must provide the NRIC/ Passport no. Type and ID Number of the Deceased before clicking on Newicon.
 
d. The page will display all the applications that are pending submission which you have created. Each pending application will be retained in the system for ONLY 7 calendar days.
 
e. If you have submitted an application for the Administration of Deceased's Estate (CPF / Baby Bonus / Edusave / PSEA Monies) electronically prior to this application for the same Deceased, your particulars, the Deceased's particulars as well as the Beneficiaries' particulars will be retrieved. The information will be displayed at the respective pages.
 
f. Click on Edit to modify details previously entered in a pending application.
 
g. Click on Delete to delete a pending application. You will be asked to confirm the deletion. Click on [Ok] to delete the application or [Cancel] to cancel the action.
 
h. Usage of Buttons :
 
Back : Brings you to the previous page.
Next : Verification of the information will begin after you click on the [Next] button. After verification, the system will proceed to the next page.
Submit : The information you entered will be submitted.
Save & Exit : Verification of the information will begin after you click on the [Save & Exit] button. After verification, information that you have entered will be saved into the database and the system will proceed to the Guidelines for Completion Page.
Clear Page : Clears the information for the current page.
Cancel : You can abort the transaction by clicking on the [Cancel] button.

 2. Questions
 
 
a. If the Other Assets of the Deceased is $6,000.00 or less, you will be asked whether the Claimant for Funeral Expenses would like to be reimbursed of the amount from the deceased's Other Assets. If the application is solely for Funeral Expenses reimbursement, you are not required to provide the Next of Kin information.

 3. Particulars of Deceased & Applicant
 
 
a. This page allows you to enter the details of the deceased and applicant.
 
b. You will not be required to provide the identification number /NRIC /Passport number of the deceased.
 
c. You will be asked to provide information such as deceased's death date, death certificate number etc.

 4. Particulars of Next of Kin
 
 
a. These pages require you to enter the details of the Deceased's next of kin.
 
b. If the Deceased is a Non-Muslim, the Next of Kin comprise: Father, Mother, Spouse, Children, Siblings and Others. If a particular next of kin is not applicable, click on the checkbox provided in each section to indicate this.

If the Deceased is a Muslim, you will only be requested to enter the details of Next of Kin under the Other Next of Kin page.

 
c. In Children, Siblings and Others pages, you can :-
 
(i) Click on Add to add another new beneficiary.
(ii) Click on Edit to modify the details of a particular beneficiary.
(iii) Click on Delete to delete the details of a particular beneficiary. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. Click on [Ok] to proceed with the deletion or [Cancel] to cancel the action.
 
d. Enter all the required information.
 
e. You can proceed to the other pages by clicking on the [Next] button or other TABs.

 5. Funeral Expenses
 
 
a. This page allows you to enter the claimant's information for reimbursement of funeral expenses from the deceased's estate. Please note that the total amount to be reimbursed cannot exceed $6,000.00 (inclusive of that filed under Administration of Deceased's Estate (CPF / Baby Bonus / Edusave / PSEA Monies)).

Please note that funeral expenses can be reimbursed from CPF monies only. If the Deceased has left behind Baby Bonus / Edusave / PSEA Monies, these monies will be distributed in accordance to the applicable laws.

 
b. Enter all the required information.
 
c. In addition to this online application, the claimant will need to fill up and return a hardcopy declaration form to the Trust Division

 6.1 Shares
 
 
a. This page allows you to enter the details of any shares held by the deceased and the transferee details.
 
b. If the deceased had no shares, please select the 'Click here if there is no detail of Shares' checkbox.
 
c. Click on Delete to delete details of a particular share. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. Click on [Ok] to proceed with the deletion or [Cancel] to cancel the action.
 
d. If the deceased had shares in more than 3 companies, you can enter the details of the other shares held by clicking on the Next 3 link at the bottom of the table. To view the previous records you have entered, you can click on the Previous 3 link at the bottom of the table.
 
e. You can proceed to the other pages by clicking on the [Next] button or other TABs.
 
f. Enter all the required information.
 
g. Note that shares belonging to a Deceased can only be transferred to either the Claimant or any one of the specified Beneficiaries from the list of Next of Kin.

 6.2 Bank Account(s)
 
 
a. This page allows you to enter the details of any bank accounts held by the deceased.
 
b. If the deceased had no bank account, please select 'Click here if there is no detail of Bank Account' checkbox.
 
c. Click on Delete to delete the details of a particular bank account. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. Click on [Ok] to proceed with the deletion or [Cancel] to cancel the action.
 
d. If the deceased had more than 3 bank accounts, you can enter the details of the additional bank accounts by clicking on the Next 3 link at the bottom of the table. To view the previous records you have entered, you can click on the Previous 3 link at the bottom of the table.

a. This page allows you to enter the details of any insurance policy owned by the deceased.
 
b. If the deceased owned no insurance policy, please select 'Click here if there is no detail of Insurance Policy' checkbox.
 
c. Click on Delete to delete the details of a particular insurance policy. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. Click on [Ok] to proceed with the deletion or [Cancel] to cancel the action.
 
d. If the deceased owned more than 3 insurance policies, you can enter the details of the additional insurance policies by clicking on the Next 3 link at the bottom of the table. To view the previous records you have entered, you can click on the Previous 3 link at the bottom of the table.

c. Click on Delete to delete the details of a particular motor vehicle. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. Click on [Ok] to proceed with the deletion or [Cancel] to cancel the action.

d. If the deceased had more than 3 safe deposit boxes, you can enter the details of the additional safe deposit boxes by clicking on the Next 3 link at the bottom of the table. To view the previous records you have entered, you can click on the Previous 3 link at the bottom of the table.

b. If the deceased had no Other Assets, please select 'Click here if there is no detail for Other Assets' checkbox.
 
c. Click on Delete to delete the details of a particular other assets. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. Click on [Ok] to proceed with the deletion or [Cancel] to cancel the action.
 
d. If the deceased had more than 3 other assets, you can enter the details of these other assets by clicking on the Next 3 link at the bottom of the table. To view the previous records you have entered, you can click on the Previous 3 link at the bottom of the table.

 7. Transaction Summary & Submission of Documents
 
 
a. This page displays the details of your application before you proceed to submit the application.
 
b. Please ensure that all the details are correct.
 
c. Documents should only be attached just before submission. Only documents of the PDF, GIF and JPG formats will be accepted. Documents with size exceeding 2MB should be sent via email to your Case Officer or IPTO_PT_TRUST@ipto.gov.sg.
 
d. Verification of the details of your application and the document(s) you attached will begin after you click on the [Submit] button.
 
e. If you need to make any amendments, click on the [Back] button to go back to the previous pages. Otherwise, click on the [Submit] button to complete the submission.

If the deceased was a Non-Muslim, the Public Trustee will distribute the deceased's estate in accordance with the Intestate Succession Act (Cap. 146). Section 7 provides for the following rules of distribution:

The administration of the asset(s) will be completed within 3-6 months after receiving the completed Application Form and all required documents.

If the beneficiary of the deceased's Other Assets is under the age of 21 years, the Public Trustee will hold the minor's share in trust until he attains 21 years old, whereupon the monies will be released to him.
